Art In Public Places
The aim of the Art in Public Places trust is to enable the people of Tairawhiti to experience art in their everyday life, through artworks, which express the values, visions and spirit of the places that collectively define Tairawhiti.
Art is intimately linked to identity and what we think of our surrounding environment and ourselves. Public Art enriches our lives and as well as those that visit us, it spurs our imaginations and creativity, and inspires us. Public art also enhances our natural landscape and built environments.
AIPP recognise that community ownership is an integral aspect of public acceptance of, and respect for public artworks. It must be noted however that the GDC has the final say of if, where and what art is displayed in public places.
