Why have a Community Development Unit?

Council recognises the importance of the community as a living and thriving entity. The Community Development Unit is an essential component of councils business in terms of:

  • How it relates to its community
  • How it supports and strengthens the community
  • How it maintains an accurate picture of the communities’ issues, problems and opportunities.

Accordingly, the Community Development Unit plays a key role in supporting council’s community planning function (LTCCP) and advice to the Chief Executive on community matters.
