Elections 2007


Introduction

The Local Government elections for the Gisborne District Council and Tairawhiti District Health Board are held every three years. In 2007 they are being held on 13 October 2007.

The elections will be held by postal vote. The Gisborne District Council elections will be conducted under the First Past the Post (FPP) system, while the Tairawhiti District Health Board elections will be conducted under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system.

Key Dates

Nominations open/Preliminary Electoral Roll open for inspection:

27 July 2007 - Nominations open for those wishing to stand for Council and/or District Health Board. Preliminary electoral roll is available for inspection. 

Nominations close:

24 August 2007, 12.00 noon

Voting period:

21 September to 13 October 2007 (12.00 noon, close of voting)

Delivery of voting papers:

21-26 September 2007.

Electoral Roll:

The preliminary Electoral Roll is open for inspection from 27 July to 24 August 2007. This can be inspected at the the Council Administrative Centre, HB Williams Memorial Library, and Te Puia Service Centre.

Election Day:

13 October 2007.
