Annual Plan 2008-2009

Council formally adopted the final 2008-2009 Annual Plan and amendments to the 2006-2016 Community Plan on 26 June 2008.  This resulted in a rates increase of 6.58%.

The draft 2008-2009 Annual Plan and Amendments was approved for consultation on 27 March 2008.  Formal consultation included 21 meetings held 9 April to 16 May.

• 472 submissions received
• 422 on the proposal to provide for reticulation of wastewater and water at Wainui / Okitu and Sponge Bay and wastewater in Makorori.
• 110 people or groups spoke at the submission hearings 

Councillors decided not to proceed with the reticulation of wastewater and water to Wainui / Okitu and Sponge Bay and wastewater to Makorori.  This decision was due to the significance of the community's response, the number and complexity of the issues raised, and the need to communicate consistently with residents.
