Gisborne's Art in Public Places Trust - Toi Whanui Tairāwhiti was established in February 1999.
Art in Public Places (AIPP) vision is to see Tairāwhiti as a centre of excellence for public art in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
With Tairāwhiti's natural and built environment enhanced with relevant and interesting visual art works. The group's mission is for art to become a greater part of our community's everyday lives.
AIPPs brief is to install suitable art pieces in locations around the district such as the circles throughout the central business district, and the smaller townships throughout the district.
AIPPs role is to encourage awareness of public art in our community, choose art pieces for public display and facilitate the installation of art pieces in cooperation with the Gisborne District Council.
Please contact the AIPP committee if you have a suggestion of public art work, or if you would like to make a donation or sponsor an art project. Any sizable donations would be acknowledged on a plaque beside the art work. Contact AIPP

I think we should have a maori art "focus" as a major theme so as to distinguish us form the rest of NZ.
