Barkers Hill footpath work starts Monday
Contractors Fulton Hogan will start constructing the new footpath over Barkers Hill (top of Ballance St to Shelley Road) from Monday 27 November.
A blessing and ground-breaking for the project was held earlier in October with kaumatua Temple and Olive Issacs, councillors, Tairawhiti Roads and Fulton Hogan staff.
The work involves installation of a concrete footpath, widening the road, kerb and channel, stormwater drainage and constructing a timber retaining wall.
During construction, the road will be reduced to one lane and traffic management will be in place, please take care when driving through the area.
This safety improvement project will take 16 weeks to complete at a cost of $560k.
