Bus service

Gisborne District Council's bus service is provided by Red Bus Service, 136 Derby Street, Gisborne phone: 867 7423  City bus

We have 2 buses operating to and from the city centre in Bright Street and the outer suburbs.
No service is provided for rural areas outside the city, or coastal and rural townships.

The costs are:

  • under 5 - free
  • child 5 -15yrs - $1.50 (10 rides $15)
  • adult 15+ - $2 (10 rides $20)

If you're a regular bus user, you can purchase a ticket for 10 rides.  There's no discount on the fare - it's just for your convenience.

If you have a SuperGold card, you can ride on a council bus for free between 9am to 3pm.  All you need to do is show the bus driver your SuperGold card.
