Bus shelter gets green light
Waka Kura and GizzyBus passengers from the Huxley Road area will have seating and cover from the weather while waiting for their bus this winter.
Construction of a 4.9m x 1.4m shelter, with a reinforced front, is being built between the footpath and kerb on the corner of Huxley Road and Cavendish Crescent.
Journey manager for Tairawhiti Roads Helen Harris says Huxley Road is one of the busiest bus stops, serving both school and commuter routes to the city.
“Nearly 70 people use the bus stop every weekday.”
The new shelter will cost $8,880 and is part of planned upgrades in Council’s Regional Public Transport Plan.
