Gisborne District Council maintains 12 cemeteries in the Gisborne district.

Cremation records

Records prior to 1998

We have cremation records up until March 1998. If the ashes were buried in our district's cemetery, the record can be searched online. 
If the ashes have not been buried, contact us if you wish to find a cremation record fill in our request form

Current records since April 1998

Evans Funeral Service has performed cremations since April 1998.  They hold the cremation records.

Private cemeteries

We do not hold any records for private cemeteries in our district.

Urupa

There are a number of urupa around the district - they are not maintained by Gisborne District Council. Contact the local kaumatua or a runanga representative.
