Change to urban flood hazard zone

Council is proposing a change to the Combined Regional Land and District Plan that would change the status of structures in the F9 Urban Flood Hazard Overlay. Many types of structures are currently prohibited in the F9. The proposed changes would allow resource consent applications for the development of structures in the F9 to be considered by Council. New buildings in the F9 would remain prohibited.

Anyone may make a written submission on the proposed change. Submissions must include your name, postal address, phone number, email address and whether you wish to be heard at a Council hearing.
Submissions must be received by 5pm Friday 10 February 2012.

Public Participation

Council will publish a summary of the submissions received. Then there will be a chance to make further submissions supporting or opposing submissions already made. (Please note you can only make a further submission if you represent a relevant public interest or if you have an interest greater than the general public.) If anyone asks to be heard in support of their submission, a hearing will be held. After considering all submissions Council will publish its decision on the change including reasons for accepting or rejecting submissions. Any submitter may appeal the Council’s decision to the Environment Court.
