Discharges Plan

River and landThe regional  plan for discharges to land and water , waste management and hazardous substance has been prepared to assist council to carry out its functions in order to achieve the purpose of the Resource Management Act 1991.  It is an effects-based plan, aimed at implementing integrated and environmentally sound resource management across the Gisborne district. 

The plan was publicly notified in August 1997.  It became part operative on 8 July 2006 (excluding Chapter 2.1 - Waste Minimisation)
The Discharges Plan is primarily concerned with the sustainable management of all discharges to land and water.
