Public holidays

Rubbish and recycling is still collected on statutory and public holidays that occur on a week day.

Bags and recycling bins must be out by 7am to ensure collection.

How many stickers to use

You need one sticker for up to 5kgs.  The maximum weight for one bag is 20kgs (4 stickers)

You can use plastic or paper bags, or a bag inside a rubbish bin. Make sure you tie the bag up and put the correct number of stickers on the bag.

Missed the kerbside collection?

In the city - you can take the rubbish bag, with the correct number of stickers on to the Resource Recovery Centre at 75 Innes Street.  Drop it in the bin at the gate during their opening hours.

If you had your rubbish out at the kerbside on time, but the contractor failed to pick it up - contact us

Buying extra stickers

You can buy extra stickers from the supermarkets, most dairies, service stations and Council. These stickers are a different colour and shape to the council-issued orange stickers.

You can purchase rubbish stickers from our customer service centres:

  • $2.60 per sticker for kerbside collection
  • $10.30 per rural pink sticker

Note: our recommended retail price is $2.60 and $10.30 per sticker. We have no control over what retailers charge.

How you should sort it

Recyclables go in the council approved recycling bin. See the guide to what's recyclable.
Refuse goes in your own bag with the correct number of stickers.

How many stickers do ratepayers get and when?

Ratepayers on the collection route are sent 13 stickers with their rates invoice.  This is one sticker per week.

Check out how to redeem a sticker for recycling options.
