Pouawa Beach

Freedom camping starts on Sunday 27 September and ends on Monday 5 April 2010.

Pouawa Beach is located approximately 18km from Gisborne.  Good swimming, fishing and diving.

A speed restriction is in place on State Highway 35 at the freedom camping areas during the Christmas holiday period.  This is to protect campers at the sites.  For safety reasons no tents or caravans are allowed to be set up within 10 metres of the edge of the highway seal.  Cars, vans, buses or motorhomes cannot park within 5 metres of the edge of the highway seal.  The 5 and 10 metre areas have been marked out.
