Proposed hockey turf on Nelson Park

Gisborne District Council has agreed to make land on part of Nelson Park available for 2 artificial hockey turfs and a pavilion.

The Poverty Bay Hockey Association (PBHA) prefer the Lytton Road end of Nelson Park opposite the BMX track.
Council has received an application to build 2 turfs (but not a pavilion) in that location.  A resource consent is not required as it's a permitted activity.  If and when a pavilion is built, consent would be needed.

PBHA will apply to Council to lease part of Nelson Park.  The lease is likely to include 2 turfs, car parking and a pavilion - in case they want to build it in the future.

Under the Reserves Act, Council is required to advertise its intention to lease part of Nelson Park for this development.  A public notice will be placed in the Gisborne Herald and the public will have the opportunity to make a submission at that stage.
