Regional Public Transport Plan
We are required by the Land Transport Management Act 2003 to prepare a Regional Public Transport Plan for the Gisborne district.
Public transport services in Gisborne, as in the rest of New Zealand, are subsidised. The investment is provided in approximately equal proportions by Council and the New Zealand Transport Agency. As a guide, passengers pay approximately 50% of the costs of providing the service; Council pays 25% and NZ Transport Agency 25%.
The focus of this plan is to build on the Gisborne bus service, school bus service and the total mobility scheme.
