Restricted fire season from Saturday
A restricted fire season applies over the entire Gisborne district from 6am Saturday 11 November.
This means a fire permit is required for a fire anywhere in the open at any time.
No permit will be issued for outdoor fires within Gisborne city, this includes incinerators. Fire permit applications for cooking fires will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Fires are prohibited on beaches. Only gas cookers and bbqs are allowed.
Permit applications are free but may take up to 3 working days to process.
The above restrictions will remain in force until further notice.
