To install a swimming pool or spa pool, you should read this pamphlet Swimming Pool Fencing - A Simple Guide  

To apply for a consent you need to fill in a building consent application form, and attach:

• 2 site plans showing the location of the swimming pool in relation to boundaries
• details on the fencing, compliant with the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act. 
• if there are any doors or windows opening directly onto the swimming pool area, how these will be secured
• details on backflow prevention (where applicable)
• any other relevant information
