Tokomaru Bay sea wall works complete
Construction of the new sea wall along a large part of the Tokomaru Bay beachfront has been completed.
The six month project involved the reinforcement of the previous wall and placement of over 5000 tonnes of rock along the sea wall. Contractors faced major challenges building the wall, only being able to work during low tide.
An application for further funding will made to reinforce other parts of the seafront, which have seen significant erosion from rising sea waters.
The total cost of the repair was $880,000, funded by Council and the National Land Transport Safety Fund.
