Tokomaru Bay Township Plan
The Tokomaru Bay community upgrade is underway with footpaths, roading, a new playground, a white picket fence around the cenotaph, picnic tables, a barbecue and more. The community worked closely with us to ensure improvements aligned with their expectations and needs.
The update builds on the work done in 2007 that identified the community's long term vision and key projects. Many of the previous projects have now been completed like a fitness trail, community caretaker, dune restoration project, improved hours for the transfer station and a footbridge over the Waiotu Stream.
New priorities have now emerged and the top 9 projects that the community will focus on over the next 10 years are:
- maintain seawalls
- reliable fuel supply
- public toilet facilities
- Tokomaru Bay Wharf
- rubbish management
- heritage promotion
- roading infrastructure
- playground facilities
- native trees
The other ideas that are important to the community are included in the list at the end of the update and implementation plan.
