Waipaoa River flood control scheme review

After community consultation on the ten year plan, council resolved to reinstate the Waipaoa River flood protection scheme.

The reasons for this were:

  • the present scheme only provides 70-year protection
  • the proposal to upgrade will be the subject of specific consultation
  • the inclusion underlines council's commitment to civil defence and emergency management of its communities

Council held 2 public meetings in April, to discuss possible options for upgrading the scheme.  We asked for your feedback in May.
