We monitor the water quality every 2 weeks all year round.

During heavy rain this river can become highly sedimented and contaminated from the agricultural run-off upstream.

About the Turanganui River

Popular site for riverbank fishing.

The Turanganui River is formed from the joining of the Waimata River to the north of the city and Taruheru River from the west. Both catchment areas are large and run through intensive cropping and agricultural land.
