Testing frequency and reading levels

We monitor the Waimata River water quality monthly all year round, with samples taken from Grant Road.

During heavy rain the river can become highly sedimented and contaminated from the agricultural run-off upstream.

About Waimata River

The Waimata River travels through Gisborne city from a large catchment area to the north.

The river is popular for kayaking, canoeing, waka ama and fishing.
