Gisborne District Council - Liveable Communities

Notified resource consent application.

Proposal

GDC and Ngāti Oneone have partnered to develop the summit of Tītīrangi (Te Taumata o Tītīrangi). The Tītīrangi summit is a key part of the Tairāwhiti Navigations program which is a regional body of work focusing on the development of heritage stories to enhance tourism, develop historical awareness and build the national profile of the Tairāwhiti region.

The proposal is for a whare on the Tītīrangi maunga, including construction of the building (and associated access/parking, earthworks, landscaping and signage) and to provide for the use of the building and site to accommodate a range of activities. These activities include day to day visitor use and scheduled event activities such as art exhibitions, wananga and school events, kapahaka and observation.

The site is located in the  Heritage Reserve Zone and the application has a non-complying activity status in accordance with the provisions of the Tairawhiti Resource Management Plan.

Given the significant interest of this project to the Tairāwhiti community, GDC has requested that this application be publicly notified.
