Proposal

Gisborne District Council received a notice of a requirement for a designation from the Ministry of Education.  The notice was publicly notified on 18 January 2023, and submissions closed on 16 February 2023.  Due to the impacts of the extreme weather event ‘cyclone Gabrielle, the submission period was extended and closed on Friday, 10 March 2023.

The notice is now scheduled to be heard by an Independent Commissioner at 9.30am on Tuesday, 8 August 2023, at Gisborne District Council Chambers, 15 Fitzherbert Street, Whataupoko, Gisborne 4010.

How to make a submission

Any person may make a submission, but a person who is a trade competitor of the requiring authority may do so only if that person is directly affected by an effect of the activity to which the requirement relates that—

(a) adversely affects the environment; and

(b) does not relate to trade competition or the effects of trade competition.

Submissions may be emailed to notifiedRC@gdc.govt.nz or hand delivered to a Council customer service centre no later than 4pm Friday 10 March 2023. Submissions made via post, must be in the post by the due date and time.

Your submission must also be served on the requiring authority as soon as reasonably practicable after serving your submission on Gisborne District Council.
