Council is working to contact all families affected by a car crash at the Taruheru Cemetery last night that damaged up to 60 headstones.
Customer Services has a complete list of affected headstones and can assist any families seeking information or to confirm if their plots have been affected.
While some headstones only suffered minor damage, four are unrepairable.
The sites are on the first three rows of block 30 from the 1970s and 1980s, and some include children.
Acting director of liveable communities De-Arne Sutherland said Council's priority was to identify the next of kin.
“In the meantime we have marked and named sites. We encourage anyone who may have been affected to get in touch with us,” she said.
“A special thanks to the affected whānau who came to the cemetery this morning to help and show respects to the burial sites of loved ones.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the Council staff and contractors, Police, stonemasons and funeral home staff who were quick to step in and help.”
The cost of repairs and damages is still being worked through.
