Entry fees to our region’s brand-new Kiwa Pools complex have been agreed upon by a majority of councillors.
An extra group discount was added during a Council meeting last week to include one adult and four children for a $15 entry fee. A review of all the fees will be held in March 2024 after a full summer of attendance.
Kiwa Pools Aquatics Manager Campbell Macgregor says he’s excited Council approved the recommended fees and charges.
“I’m comfortable the fees are at the right level to support the fair and equitable use of this culturally significant and wonderful new facility.
“However, I do acknowledge the debate that Councillors and the Mayor provided with some key points to take into consideration.”
Mr Macgregor says he’s looking forward to reviewing the tenders for the Learn to Swim programme in the new year.
"Learn to Swim is an area where aquatic facilities run by Councils can make a huge difference to community outcomes.
“Working in partnership with Learn to Swim providers enables pepi and tamariki to gain skills in a safe and structured environment.”
He and the Kiwa Pools team are excited about exploring ways, through the tender process, in which a partnership can be developed that can exceed community expectations and provide opportunities for all stakeholders.
