Over the next two weeks, Tairāwhiti residents will see an increase in trucks on the district’s roading network.
Council reminds all road users to please consider this during their travels.
Journeys Infrastructure Manager Dave Hadfield says the combined impact of cyclones Hale and Gabrielle severely restricted freight trucks being able to access beef and sheep farms and forestry blocks.
“Every day more of the roading network is being methodically reopened thanks to the collaborative efforts of contractors,” says Mr Hadfield.
“We know residents may have become used to the lull in freights trucks over the last month, but you will see a considerable increase as they travel to the port as well as stock trucks accessing our rural network.”
Mr Hadfield asks all road users to take care over the next couple of weeks.
