Rau Tipu Rau Ora - Response and Recovery Plan

Tairāwhiti Covid-19 pandemic response and recovery plan Rau Tipu Rau Ora - not simply restoring the good things we had before Covid-19, but it's also about future proofing, and re-establishing an even better region with a whole of wellbeing approach.

At the centre of our framework is our workforce. The importance of our people, building and developing a resilient and confident workforce is critical to the success of our recovery.

These are the main factors to ensuring success in supporting our communities, moving our economy forward and managing and protecting our natural environment.

The action plan to guide the region’s post-Covid-19 recovery, Rau Tipu Rau Ora, was launched by Mayor Rehette Stoltz, co-chair of the regional forum that oversaw the plan’s development, which includes chairs of the local iwi authorities as well as Trust Tairāwhiti, Eastland Group, Eastland Institute of Technology and Hauora Tairāwhiti. The plan is a combined effort of many organisations and stakeholders.

Rau Tipu Rau Ora identifies crucial issues such as housing, employment, health – including the isolation caused by Covid-19 and the risk of future pandemics – stimulating the economy, and education and training.

Going forward together

We'll take a unified approach working with our iwi, our organisations, our business sectors and our diverse community groups.

This plan is only the beginning and the Rau Tipu Rau Ora governance group. Together with our community we will continue to monitor progress towards our regional recovery.

Let’s stand strong together Tairāwhiti!
