Appointment of Trustees

Gisborne and Districts War Memorial Trust

Together with the Gisborne Returned and Services Association, the Gisborne District Council are looking for 5 Trustees to join the Gisborne and Districts War Memorial Trust.

This Trust is responsible for the overarching decisions regarding the land and buildings that comprise the Gisborne RSA on the corner of Childers Road and Bright Street in Gisborne, as per the provisions of the Trust Deed. The Gisborne RSA is responsible for the day-to-day control and management of the premises.

Under the Trust Deed, Gisborne District Council and the Gisborne RSA hold the right of appointment of 2 trustees each, and one to be appointed jointly and unanimously.

Ideal applicant description:

The Trust Deed states that the 5 trustees shall be ex-servicemen or ex-servicewomen eligible for membership of the New Zealand Returned Services Association or its successor.

In addition to that requirement, ideally, you will have a clear understanding of governance functions and principles, an independent mind. You will be able to actively participate in Board decision-making, including the ability to offer sound professional judgement and have strong networks.

  • This position is not remunerated.
  • The Trust Deed states the trustees shall meet at least annually.
