Waka Kura is a school bus service for high school and Gisborne Intermediate students to travel between home and school from one side of the city to the other.
From 1 July, there's updates to Waka Kura bus fares and routes to make school travel easier. Check the interactive map and timetable below to find the best rout for your school day.

Same day transfer within 45 minutes is free. Free transfers do not apply to return journeys or cash fares.

From the start of the new school term - there are changes to Waka Kura bus fares and routes to make school travel easier. Check the interactive map and timetable below to find the best rout for your school day.
Students going to Lytton High or Campion College can also use GizzBus at the start and end of the school day.

For registered Bee Card users only - daily and weekly fare caps offer discounts for frequent bus users. Once your Bee Card reaches the daily or weekly cap, you won't be charged for additional rides that day or week.

To make the transition easier, we're offering a free Bee Card when you sign up in person - waiving the usual $5 fee. Simply pop into the library or our customer service counter to register, then top up your card when you receive it so you're ready to ride the bus hassle-free.

Schools with buses
Our high schools have buses that run before and after school to help students get to class and home again, These buses are timed to match the school day and are available for:
- Gisborne Girls' High
- Gisborne Boys' High
- Lytton High
- Campion College
- and Gisborne Intermediate.
Students going to Lytton High or Campion College can also use GizzBus at the start and end of the school day.
