Applications have closed for commercial entities to apply for funding for the removal of cyclone-related sediment and debris

The Government provided $7.41M funding to eligible commercial entities to support the clean-up of cyclone-related sediment and debris in Tairāwhiti.

The funding needed to be used for eligible work, that had been or would be used to cover costs between 12 February 2023 to 30 June 2024. The funding could not be used for any indirect costs incurred or unrelated activities or the purchase of any non-consumable or capital assets.

Successful applicants were required to enter into a funding agreement before the funding could be provided.

Gisborne District Council was been asked to administer the funding and make it available to eligible commercial entities on the following basis:

  • Up to $40,000 (GST exclusive) as a grant (this amount to be calculated including any support previously received by that commercial entity through the Cyclone Gabrielle Farmer and Grower Recovery Grant and/or Cyclone Gabrielle Business Recovery Grant); and
  • Up to $210,000 (GST exclusive) on a cost-share basis, where this part-funding paid reflects a 50:50 cost share (where the balance is borne directly by that commercial entity).

The 3 funding rounds have closed

Round 3 - closed midnight Friday 20 October - 64 applications were received.

Round 2 - closed Friday 15 September - 58 applications were received.

Round 1 - closed Friday 4 August - 61 applications were received.
