Ultimate Rally Group are bringing international rally stages to Tairawhiti 30 November and 1 December 2026

An additional temporary road closure has been proposed on Monday 30 November from 12.25 pm to 4.55 pm
- Motu Road from the Gisborne boundary with Opotiki District Council to 200 metres from its intersection with Marumoko Road
Anyone wishing to object to this added road closure, may do so in writing, it must be received by 8am 14 September 2026
The following roads or parts of roads will be temporarily closed for the 2026 Silver Fern Rally on Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December hosted by Ultimate Rally Group.
- Te Wera Road - 30 November from 12.55 pm to 7.10 pm from the start of the gravel to Rakauroa Road 300m from intersection with SH2
- Whakarau Road - 30 November from 2.40 pm to 8.15 pm from its intersection with Motu Road to its intersection with Mahaki Settlement Road.
- Taumata / Pehiri Road - Tuesday 1 December from 7.15 am to 11.45 am 11km from its intersection with Wharekopae Road at the start of gravel to Pehiri Road at house number 1620.
- Parikanapa Road - Tuesday 1 December from 8.15am to 12.45 pm 200m from its intersection with Tiniroto Road at Waerenga-o-kuri to 200m from its intersection with Tiniroto Road at the Tiniroto end.
No one other than those covered by the permit for the above event can use the road while it is closed.
This notice is issued under the Local government Act 1974 Section 342 and the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965.
