Swimmers can challenge themselves this winter by swimming the distance to a destination of their choice, as part of the Kiwa Pools Swim the Distance Challenge.
The challenge is now on until 30 September 2026. Swimmers pick a destination, such as Mahia, and swim enough laps over the two months to cover that distance. Every lap counts towards the total, self-recorded at the kiosk.
"It's a brilliant way to set a goal and stay motivated over winter. Whether you're chasing fitness or want a fun challenge, this is for you," says Cam Macgregor, Aquatics Manager at Kiwa Pools.
Swimmers can choose any destination that suits them and track their progress lap by lap. It's flexible, so people can swim at their own pace and fit it around their schedule.
"You don't need to be a competitive swimmer to take part. It's about consistency and enjoying the journey to your destination," says Cam Macgregor.
Registration forms are available at Kiwa Pools, with a $120 registration fee payable on-site.
