Ultimate Rally Group are proposing to bring international rally stages to Tairawhiti
It is proposed to temporarily close the following roads or parts of roads for the 2026 Silver Fern Rally on Monday 31 November and Tuesday 1 December hosted by Ultimate Rally Group.
- Te Wera Road - 30 November from 12.55 pm to 7.10 pm from the start of the gravel to Rakauroa Road 300m from intersection with SH2
- Whakarau Road - 30 November from 2.40 pm to 8.15 pm from its intersection with Motu Road to its intersection with Mahaki Settlement Road.
- Taumata / Pehiri Road - Tuesday 1 December from 7.16 am to 11.45 am 11km from its intersection with Wharekopae Road at the start of gravel to Pehiri Road at house number 1620.
- Parikanapa Road - 1 December 200m from its intersection with Tiniroto Road at Waerenga-o-kuri to 200m from its intersection with Tinoroto Road at the Tiniroto end.
No one other than those covered by the permit for the above event would be able to use the road while it is closed.
Any person objecting to this proposal can make their objection in writing stating the reasons why. This must be received before 1 September 2026.
This notice is issued under the Local government Act 1974 Section 342 and the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965.
