How do you get your news about Council?

Monday, 6  November 2023

Gisborne District Council wants to know where residents get their information about what Council is doing – is it through Council’s website, Facebook, the Gisborne Herald or somewhere else?

In an effort to make sure the community is being communicated to in the best way possible, residents are being invited to take part in a survey, How well do we communicate with you? launched by Council at the A&P Show.

“It‘s never lost on us how important communication is with our residents. You’re our target audience and at the heart of everything we do,” says Anita Reedy-Holthausen, Council Director of Engagement and Māori Partnerships.

“This survey will help us improve how you receive news from Council and show us how informed you feel as a region.

“We’re heavily in recovery mode and the Government’s $ 204 million package has been accepted.

“As we move forward with improvements to our region, we want to ensure we take you along with us around what’s being done and how this money is being spent.

“To ensure we’re communicating as effectively as possible, please take a few minutes to fill out this survey.”

Ms Reedy-Holthausen says the survey results will help form a bigger picture and support all the other ways Council already receives feedback from our community.

“Our customer service team receives around 200 phone calls, and more than 150 emails, a day alongside those who come into the offices on Fitzherbert Street or in Te Puia Springs.

“We also hear from our community via submissions, through the GDC Fixit App, website queries, Facebook and through the fortnightly newsletter He Pānui.

“We look forward to sharing the results of this survey with our community.”

There is even an incentive to fill out the survey with an iPad and other great prizes on offer.
