A mobility parking permit allows the holder to park in any mobility parking space and provides other parking benefits.
Where you can park
- Mobility parking spaces - you can park in any marked mobility park for the time shown on the meter or sign.
- Sign-posted mobility parks - permit holders can park for free for up to 120 minutes, with an extra 20 minute grace period to return to your vehicle.
Parking in standard spaces
- If you park in a regular (non-mobility) space, you must pay the parking fee on the meter.
- With your valid permit displayed, you’ll still receive a 30-minute grace period after your paid time expires.
Displaying your permit
- Your permit must be valid and clearly displayed on your windscreen at all times while parked.
Fine for misuse
If you park in a space that's reserved for mobility permits and don't have a valid permit displayed - the fine is $750.
This rule is made by government and enforced by council to make sure everyone follows the rules and people who need these parks can use them.
Mobility car parks in the city centre
There are 34 specially marked mobility parks in the CBD (city centre). These parks are:
- Wider than normal to make it easier for people using wheelchairs or mobility aids.
- Each park has its own parking meter.
- They are easy to spot with blue paint on the road and a sign on the footpath.
Parking locations on the map
The map shows mobility parking spaces, pay by plate machines ( where you pay using your license plate number), metered and non-metered parking and taxi stands.
