How many rubbish stickers do you need on a bag?

  • One sticker for every 5kgs
  • 4 stickers for 20kgs - this is the maximum weight for one bag

You can use plastic or paper bags, or put a bag inside a rubbish bin. Just tie the bag up and stick on the right number of stickers before putting it out.

Where you can buy rubbish stickers

You can buy rubbish stickers from supermarkets, dairies, service stations and our customer service centres. These stickers look different from Council-issued stickers.

How many stickers do ratepayers get and when?

Ratepayers on the collection route receive 13 rubbish stickers (one per week) when rates invoices are sent out.

How to sort your recycling and rubbish

Sorting your waste properly helps reduce landfill waste and recycle more:

Recycling goes in the Council-approved recycling bin
  • plastics - bottles and containers - grades 1, 2 and 5
  • glass - jars and bottles - no lids
  • paper and cardboard - flatten boxes, newspapers, magazines
  • metal - clean cans and tins
Not for recycling
  • food scraps
  • soft plastics - like chip packets
  • tetra pak containers - foil lined cardboard
  • polystyrene and foam packaging
