If you're planning work on or near a Council-owned or Council-managed flood control land, you'll need our approval before work starts.
This includes work on or near stopbanks, floodgates, erosion protection works and other flood control assets.
Examples of uses that require an application are:
- installing infrastructure through or across stopbanks or flood control assets
- stock grazing
- vehicle, livestock or pedestrian access
- recreational activities or community events
Our Flood Control Land Use Policy explains how to apply and how we assess applications to help protect flood control assets.
