Kiwa Pools will introduce earlier morning opening times from this Saturday, following strong demand and feedback from regular users.
From Saturday 7 February, the pools will open at 5.30am instead of 6am. Evening closing times have also been slightly adjusted to better reflect how the community is using the facility.
Aquatics Manager Campbell Macgregor says the changes directly respond to community behaviour and feedback.
“Many swimmers, including kaumātua, regularly queue outside before the current 6am opening time,” says Mr Macgregor.
"It's clear early-morning sessions are highly valued by many of our regular users, so to better meet the needs of our community and align with usage patterns, we've approved a small adjustment to our operating hours."
“The adjustment aims to improve comfort and access for morning swimmers while aligning evening hours with patterns showing most people prefer to finish their activities earlier at night.”
